How much VAT you charge and pay this month
The VAT you charge on your sales is not yours: it belongs to Hacienda. Work out how much you owe this month after crediting the VAT on your purchases, and how much to set aside for the D-104 return.

How it is calculated
The general value-added tax rate is 13% (Law 9635); some goods and services carry reduced rates of 4%, 2% or 1%.
The VAT collected on sales minus the VAT paid on purchases with credit rights is what you pay with the monthly D-104 return within the first fifteen calendar days of the following month.
This calculator assumes every purchase gives full credit; with proportionality or non-creditable purchases the result changes.
Example
Example: sales of ₡1,000,000 and creditable purchases of ₡400,000 at 13% leave ₡78,000 of VAT to pay.
